Current News:
Foster, the HBO documentary I wrote and directed about the child welfare system in Los Angeles, and which received a Writers Guild nomination for Best Documentary screenplay, can still be seen on HBO Max. The feature length documentary is another collaboration with Deborah Oppenheimer, with whom I made the Academy Award-winning Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport. Our new film is a revealing first-hand look at the foster care system as seen through the eyes of those who know it best. The film goes beyond the sensational headlines and stereotypes to take an unprecedented look at an often misunderstood world and upend some of the most enduring myths about foster care and the child protection system.
Breaking Point: The War for Democracy in Ukraine, a film I co-wrote and co-directed, is now streaming on Peacock. It is alao available on Google Play, Amazon Prime, and iTunes. The award-winning documentary is an intimate look at the war and revolution in Ukraine through the eyes of ordinary people who risked their lives to create a more democratic, independent country.
